Celebration

Documenting the celebration of ones name called a Name Day, held in a small Bulgarian village.

This is an orthodox celebration, which takes place several times a year. People who are named after saints celebrate their given name on the saints birthday. Each Name Day has its own tradition. In the following Photographs it is Yordanov den, on this day a cross is thrown into a river and the men must find it, in some places the one to find the cross receives a reward.
